10 Reasons to Feed Raw

1. Raw is naturally digestible

A raw diet is a natural choice for your pet as they thrive on a diet that’s rich in quality protein and low in carbohydrates and sugars. Raw dog food recipes typically don’t contain fillers, additives or preservatives, which are harder for your pet to digest.

2. Healthy skin and coat

Skin is the largest organ. When your dogs body is getting the nutrients and vitamins is needs, it shows through their skin! Raw food naturally contains certain active enzymes that help break down and consume nutrients. Without this, it’s harder for dogs to absorb starches, fats and proteins. That could result in dry skin, dandruff and thin or coarse fur growth. With feeding raw, you can notice a difference in their skin, coat and how much less they shed!

3. Reducing doggy odour

Dogs consuming food with higher fillers, additives and preservatives, can lead to not so nice “doggy odour”. Since raw feeding benefits your dogs skin and coat, the skin produces less odour filled oils. With raw food being better in their digestive system, this often decreases or eliminates doggy gas.

4. Less poop to scoop

With ingredients that are harder to break down, it results in more waste (aka poop). Raw food contains meat, organs and bone which are all things dogs are meant to digest easier. Being easier to break down and use as fuel, this means raw food equals less waste. Poop will also become firmer and after a couple days become chalky and decompose faster.

5. Reduction in allergies

A pets diet is the most common cause of allergies. A major cause of stress on the immune system comes from poor gut health which can be caused by foods not biologically meant for pets to digest as easy which can compromise the immune system. Over time, intolerances can escalate to allergic reactions (rashes, itchy paws, ear infections, digestive and joint issues, etc.). A raw diet can help or possibly eliminate your furry pals allergy symptoms.

6. Immune system support

Raw food contains ingredients that your pet is biologically designed to eat. Limiting your pets exposure to fillers and additives leaves your dogs body to focus on other things like handling external and environmental triggers. Giving your pet a raw food diet is naturally rich in moisture which will support your best furry friends organ health.

7. Increased energy

Your dog has more energy when they feel good! Raw pet food that does not include excess ingredients and fillers means less energy being spent digesting carbs and sugars. When you switch to feeing raw, you’ll likely notice a new pep in your pups step!

8. Enhanced hydration

Raw food being higher in moisture content means that they get more natural hydration. Since they get natural hydration through their food, they tend to drink less water compared to when eating kibble.

9. Easy weight management

Raw pet food does not contain additional carbohydrates or sugars which can be harder to burn off like kibble does. Feeding raw food which is only made with biologically appropriate ingredients will naturally help your dog maintain their ideal body weight.

10. Cleans teeth naturally

A number of dental issues in dogs is caused by high sugar content which can be found in commercially produced pet food. Kibble and canned food can get stuck in your dog’s teeth which can lead to plaque, tartar and bad breath. Raw food is less likely to get stuck to teeth which will help keep your dog’s mouth healthy. It also contains natural enzymes which promote oral health.
